A pupil of Ilya Musin at The Rimsky Korsakov
Conservatory, he is one of the most demanded Spanish conductors of his
generation.
He has been Principal Associated conductor of
The Hermitage Orchestra since 1998 and he his currently Artistic
Director of The Festival “Spanish Evenings” in Saint Petersburg.
In 2003 he was chosen among candidates from
the whole world by Valery Gergiev to conduct Festival in Rotterdam and
take part in the Master Class and film about conducting, “The Master
and his pupil”.
Short after, he was invited to work at The
Mariinsky Opera Theater, where he has made his debut conducting Mozart’s
“The Marriage of Figaro”.
Currently he is working as a free lance guest
conductor at the Theater as well as guest conducting orchestras like,
orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater, St. Petersburg Symphony, St.
Petersburg State Symphony, St. Petersburg Kapella, Prague Symphony,
Lithuanian National Symphony, Oulu Symphony, Tapiola Sinfonietta,
English Chamber Orchestra, Hermitage Orchestra, Danubia Zenekar from
Hungary,
National Symphony of Macedonia, Saint Cristophorus of Vilnius,
Kaunas Symphony, Regionale del Lazio, among others, as well as the
majority of Spanish Orchestras. Among the soloists he has worked with
are Elisso Virsaladze, Eldar Nebolsin, Sergei Krilov, Vladimir Mishuk or
Gabriel Suovannen.
He has conducted Operas like “Faust” (Gounod), “The Marriage of Figaro” (Mozart), “Boris Godunov” (Mussorgsky),
“Eugene Oneguin” (Tchaikovsky), “Falstaff” (Verdi), “Glaura y Cariolano”
(Lidon), “La Scala di Seta” (Rossini), “L’Arbore di Diana” (Martin y
Soler), ”Bastian und Bastienne” (Mozart).
His repertoire include also contemporary
music, specially Spanish, having recorded works of important composers
as well as the first recording of The Opera by Jose Lidon from 1792,
Glaura y Cariolano.
He is Principal conductor and Artistic
Director of the Chamber Opera company "Opera Incognita of St.Petersburg",
specialized in less known works of the repertory. Their first prèmiere,
"The Letters from Van Gogh" by composer Grigori Frid, had a huge success
at the Hermitage Theater.
